What is a Registered Office Address and why do I need it?

  • The Registered Office Address of a Company is the Company’s official address.
  • It is the address that Companies House will record against the company as its contact address and is where all correspondence from Companies House, HMRC and other government departments for the attention of the Company will be sent.
  • The Companies House’ database of companies registered in the UK is freely searchable by the public and the Registered Office Address is the address that people will see for contacting the Company.
  • The Registered Office Address of a Company must be in the same jurisdiction as the Company is itself registered in (e.g. Scotland for a Scottish company) and must always be an effective address for delivering documents to the company.
  • A Company’s Registered Office Address cannot be a PO Box and must be an address where legal papers can be served.
  • A Company’s Registered Office Address must be displayed on all correspondence, including invoices, letterhead and its .

Proof of ID

Due to our legal obligations in complying with the latest Anti-Money Laundering regulations and Know Your Customer requirements, we must confirm the identity and proof of address for any customer taking one of our address services. We will attempt to do so using an electronic lookup function, but if this is unsuccessful, we will contact you outlining what hardcopy documents we require.

What will my Registered Office address be if I use your service?

Can I change the Registered Office address of my company after it’s been formed?

Absolutely. Provided that you can satisfy the requirement of providing an address in the same jurisdiction as the company (Scotland for a Scottish company, England for an English company etc) then you can file a change of Registered Office whenever you wish. If you decide to cancel the service, simply let us know the new address and we will file the necessary changes for you free of charge. Please consider that you will need to update all your corporate stationary, business cards and websites to show your new address.

What happens if non official mail is received at your address?

If we receive mail for your Company not covered by the Registered Office Service, and you do not have our Mail Forwarding Service, then we will notify you of receipt of mail by email. If you do not require the mail then we will return it to sender, which filters out unsolicited junk and marketing material.

What packs do you include the registered office service?

Our registered office service is automatically included in our Gold, Platinum and Diamond Pack but is also available to purchase on any pack during the order process

Can I use your Registered Office address as my address as a Director of the company?

All company Directors must provide Companies House with two addresses – their residential address and a Service Address. The Service Address will be listed on the public record as the contact address for the Director. You can of course use your residential address for both purposes, but this will mean your home address is available to anyone who searches the public record. We do not cover the use of our address as a Service Address under our Registered Office Service, but you can purchase the Service Address service at a price of £30pa per Director during our order process.
